Financial and Insurance

Woman filling out insurance paperworkAt Shull Family Dentistry, we believe you should feel confident and informed about your dental care. We take the time to clearly explain our treatment recommendations, answer your questions, and provide an honest understanding of what your care involves before you move forward.

We understand that every patient’s financial situation is different. For patients using dental insurance, we are happy to work with your insurance provider and assist with the claims process. For patients paying out of pocket, we provide clear estimates so you know what to expect before treatment begins. Our goal is to make sure you understand both your treatment options and the associated costs so you can make the decision that is right for you.

Insurance and Patient Co-payments

If you have dental insurance, please provide your insurance information when completing your new patient paperwork. Providing this information in advance allows our team to review your benefits and provide a better understanding of your estimated insurance coverage and out-of-pocket responsibility.

Our team is happy to assist with filing dental or medical claims when applicable. However, insurance coverage varies by plan, and you remain responsible for any fees, deductibles, co-payments, or services not covered by your insurance.

If you have questions about your insurance benefits or financial responsibility, our team is happy to help explain what we can. We believe in being upfront about costs so you can make informed decisions about your dental care.

Appointments and Consultations

If you are a first-time patient, we'll take any x-rays that you're due for, and Dr. Shull will perform a comprehensive exam and review your dental and medical histories. From this appointment, we'll schedule you for a professional cleaning with one of our hygienists.

Most regular appointments consist of a checkup and professional cleaning. If we identify potential concerns such as decay, damage, or gum disease, Dr. Shull will discuss his findings with you and explain any recommended treatment.

We believe treatment plans should be based on what is genuinely needed for your oral health. Dr. Shull takes an honest, straightforward approach to discussing treatment options and will take the time to answer your questions so you understand why a treatment is being recommended.

Once a treatment plan has been developed, our front office team will provide you with an estimate of your expected out-of-pocket costs based on your insurance coverage or lack thereof. If you are paying out of pocket, we will clearly explain the fees associated with your recommended treatment before you decide how to proceed.

If you're not a patient of record and aren't sure if you're ready to join our practice, we can schedule a free consultation to answer your questions and discuss your concerns.
